Data Collection & Analysis

Data collection and analysis consists of gathering, processing and interpreting data in order to make informed decisions. Our data collection involves a variety of sources, including surveys, interviews, experiments, and observational studies. Our data analysis involves various techniques to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in the data, and then using these insights to develop conclusions and recommendations.

Design of stated preference Mobility Survey.

Our stated preference surveys gather information on an individual’s preferences for transportation, including their preferred mode(s) of travel, frequency of travel, and travel distance. In our surveys, we also ask respondents to rate their satisfaction with existing transportation options. The information gathered in the survey is used to estimate robust models helping informed decisions related to transportation planning and policy and can help identify areas of need for improved transportation services.

Spatial analysis with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

We use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to capture, store, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. Later, based on GIS applications we create maps, analyze spatial data, and explore relationships between different layers of data. GIS can be used to help make decisions about planning, management, and policymaking.

GPS Data Collection and smartphone applications

We have used GPS Data to analyze mobility patterns, geographical location, speed, and direction of vehicles and users. We have developed smartphone applications to actively gather mobility data, e.g. INERCIA app. The app allows us to collect transport mode, time of trips, speed, location and several other patterns that can be derived from this valuable information.
