–  Travel Demand Analysis and Accessibility (INERCIA – Santo Domingo)

Habit and inertia effects of public transport users in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Co-funded by the Technical Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MESCYT), this project analyzes intrapersonal variation with temporal and spatial effects on different transport modes and new urban developments. The main results of this project are the mobility analysis based on a case study Santo Domingo public and private transport, – including metro, cable car, – and the low-income neighborhood ‘La Nueva Barquita’. Preliminary results from the project show significant income inequalities in the availability of transport modes.  See our journal publication. (See more)

 

– Major Roads Dominican Republic

This project included traffic simulations in Synchro software to determine the Level of Service (LoS) of a set of intersections along the major roads in the Dominican Republic. Secondly, the number of accidents was analyzed via a regression model. And thirdly, an analysis of the economic impact of fuel consumption and delays due to deceleration in the intersection was conducted. Finally, with the analysis performed, we proceed to analyze the proposed measures from an equity perspective. We explored whether transport policy measures inherently benefit certain population groups.
